Puerto Rico - Classical Casals Festival

One of the world’s finest Classical music events is upon us. The Festival Casals of Puerto Rico is set to delight audiences now in February and March. This great gathering of the World’s most talented classical musicians actually started back in 1957. Pablo Casals founder of this magnificent event moved to Puerto Rico from Spain in 1956 and shortly thereafter started to delight the world by creating a stage for all the virtuosos of classical music to gather once a year and showcase their talents.

Amazingly enough, the first festival back in 1957 did not count with Casals’s performance as he suffered a heart attack and was not able to be present. Pablo Casals presided this magnificent event for 18 years until his death in 1973. Nevertheless, this festival has continued to grow in prestige and although Maestro Casals is no longer able to coordinate the details, his legend and legacy lives on.

A museum to honor Maestro Casals has also been established in his beloved city of Old San Juan. This museum is the keeper of films and videos of the great performances that have been featured in the past Festivals and feature the solo performances of Maestro Casals, a true testament to his work, talent and dedication.

We encourage you to take advantage of this singular event and treat your “ears” and your soul to the best classical music festival. Additionally, spending time in Puerto Rico during winter and visiting its enchanted historical city of Old San Juan will also do wonders for your spirit. If you need a great location where to stay in order to truly enjoy all of what Puerto Rico has to offer, only minutes away from the festival and in the heart of Isla Verde, we invite you to visit our Website.
